Brebeuf Students Participate in M3 Challenge

m3 students 2016

Brebeuf Jesuit juniors Emily McDonnell, Lea Morical, and Josh Denney, participated in the Moody’s Mega Math (M3) Challenge 2016. This challenge is a mathematical modeling contest for juniors and seniors in high schools across the U.S. where students work in teams to solve real-world problems. Students worked in a strict time restraint to solve the mathematic problems during Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28, and they were judged by panels of Ph.D.-level mathematicians in three rounds. As a Brebeuf team, Emily, Lea, and Josh received an honorable mention award. Only 78 honorable mentions are given out to the 1,084 teams who submitted papers for the challenge and only 8.3% of students received recognition in total. The team will receive a $1,000 scholarship for college as part of their honorable mention award. Congratulations Emily, Lea, and Josh!
