December 7, 2021 Update on COVID-19 Protocols

The message below was sent to the Brebeuf Jesuit community on December 7, 2021

Dear Brebeuf Jesuit community,

This message is to inform our students, faculty and staff that beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, December 8, Brebeuf Jesuit will again require masks for everyone indoors regardless of vaccination status, through our last day of final exams on Friday, December 17. Over the break, we will continue to track the data, and determine at that time and communicate to everyone whether masks will continue to be required when we return on Tuesday, January 4.

As we have established previously, our decision on masking and other Covid precautions is based on conditions within the school, as well as in the broader community. We have seen an uptick in the number of Brebeuf Jesuit community Covid cases and close contacts over the past week, which will be reflected in the weekly Covid data chart once it is updated this Thursday. In addition, the Covid case rates in our surrounding area have been on an increasing trend, as well as hospitalization rates.
For those reasons, especially as we near final exams and holiday time with family, we feel it is most prudent at this time to add this layer of precaution for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

Lastly, one additional note for students: the last time that masks were required, many of you got into the habit of picking up a disposable mask each morning in the gym lobby on your way in. This is not sustainable. So, we ask that you please bring your own mask to school each day, rather than relying on ours. Thank you for your help.
