Freshman and Parent Orientation Information

The message below was sent to freshman families from Mr. VanSlambrook on July 23.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the upcoming 2017-18 school year. On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I hope that you have had a wonderful summer and are as excited about the new school year as we are!

We are looking forward to seeing all incoming freshmen and transfer students at Brebeuf’s Orientation Day on Wednesday, August 9, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please enter through the Gym Lobby, and check-in is available beginning at 8:30 a.m. Student orientation will last until 2:30 p.m. and students can be picked up at the Gym Lobby entrance.

We invite all parents to attend the morning of Orientation Day as well! Parents will begin the day in the Gymnasium with the students at 9:00 a.m., then will be dismissed to the Chapel for a Parent Orientation session, which will conclude at 11:00 a.m.

Students will learn their schedules, meet their teachers and senior mentors, and become familiar with Brebeuf while meeting many of their new classmates. Lunch will be provided for them. Students do not need to bring anything to Orientation and should wear comfortable, casual attire. Students’ locker numbers will be available to them on that day. They will receive their school IDs on the second day of school, during School Picture Day.

Parent Orientation will provide parents with the information needed to help their student successfully navigate Brebeuf Jesuit.  We will introduce many of our staff members who you and your student will meet over the course of the year, offer important details about student life, academics, communication, and leadership and volunteer opportunities.

Immediately following Parent Orientation, all parents are invited to attend a Parent Welcome Reception in the France Stone Room, hosted by the Brebeuf Mothers Association and the Dads Club.  This reception is a great way for new parents to learn how to become more involved at Brebeuf.  Current members of both organizations will be there to welcome you and talk with you about opportunities to be a part of their activities.

The Brebeuf Spirit Store will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on August 9, and you are welcome to come by and pick up the newest Brebeuf spirit wear!

Incoming freshman students are also invited to participate in a Freshman Day of Service at Gleaners Food Bank on Friday, August 4 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. This is not a mandatory event, but it is a great way for new students to meet others and to dive right into serving the community as they are taught at Brebeuf. Several members of our faculty and staff will participate as well, serving alongside the students. Participants will need to arrive at Brebeuf at 12:00 p.m., where we will provide transportation to Gleaners promptly at 12:30 p.m., returning to campus at approximately 4:00 p.m.

We can only accommodate 75 students.  If your student is interested in this opportunity, please click the link below to complete the permission slip and sign up.

Completed permission slips should be sent to Lisa Pearson at lpearson@brebeuf.org or they may be dropped off at the Main Lobby Desk between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

We at Brebeuf Jesuit are honored and grateful that you have chosen this community for your children and your family. This is a special place, and we look forward to a great journey together over the coming years!
