Ignatian Scholars Speaker Series Welcomes Andy Penca
We are pleased to announce that Andy Penca, father of Ignatian Scholar, Andrew Penca ’22, will be our third speaker of the semester on Friday, November 30 at zero hour (7:00-8:00 a.m.) in the Efroymson Auditorium.
Andy Penca Bio
Mr. Penca currently serves as the Executive Director – Battery, Supply Chain, and Customer Support for Cummins’ newest business: Cummins Electrified Power. The business is focused on bringing a suite of electrified power solutions to the on-highway and off-highway markets around the globe. The business is currently working on programs to electrify equipment such as transit buses, material handling equipment, construction equipment, stationary power generation, and several others in the industrial equipment sector. Cummins Inc is a $20 billion company with over 60,000 employees who design, develop, manufacture, deliver, and, service myriad power solutions and products in over 190 countries around the world.
Andy has held several roles for Cummins around the world in places such as New York, China, Australia, New Zealand, Papaua New Guinea, Southeast and Northeast Asia. He has also worked on projects, or business, which have taken him to several countries in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region. He started with Cummins in late 2007 working out of Columbus/Indianapolis. Prior to Cummins Andy worked as a member of Governor Mitch Daniels’s cabinet where he led the Department of Workforce Development for three years. Andy spent just over six years, early in his career, with Honda where he worked in advanced product planning.
Andy graduated with honors from Butler University with his bachelor’s degree in International Management. He has also completed a two-year professional degree and certification program in International Trade & Commerce from UCLA. Andy earned his MBA from the University of Southern California. Through his academic pursuits and professional experiences, Andy has learned to speak, read, and write Spanish and Mandarin, while having learned the basics of speaking Japanese and Portuguese.
In his spare time, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife, Laurie and their two boys, Andrew and Landon traveling, attending sporting events, and eating meals together. Andy and their four-year-old yellow Labrador, Zoey, recently completed the assessment, and training process, to become a certified Animal Assisted Therapy Team with the local chapter of Love on a Leash.
