Important Message Regarding Spring Break Travel

As we near spring break, we wanted to update our policies on returning from travel in light of current COVID-19 safety recommendations from the CDC and our Medical Task Force.

For those traveling internationally, the CDC has recently updated its travel guidance which can be found here.

In keeping with the CDC recommendation, Brebeuf Jesuit will now require all students, faculty and staff who are returning from international travel to self-quarantine for 7 days upon return, attend their classes online rather than in-person during that time, and stay home from activities such as athletics. If you are travelling internationally, please contact Madeleine McKinney-Torres at or 317.524.7118, and she will help you identify your date of return to school and activities.

For those traveling domestically, we continue to urge that you thoughtfully plan your travel activities to reduce risk. Please see the CDC website on travel guidance.

Students, faculty and staff whose travel puts them at higher risk will also be required to self-quarantine for 7 days before returning to in-person classes and school activities including athletics. If your travel includes higher risk activities, we ask for the common good of the entire community that you be honest about that, and please contact Madeleine McKinney-Torres to work out a return date.

Also upon returning from travel of any kind, please be especially vigilant to monitor for symptoms, and stay home from school if you exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with anyone who tests positive for COVID-19. If we become aware of any student in-person at school in violation of these post-travel requirements, they will be sent home immediately, and parents contacted to inform you of the required return date.

Thank you,

Greg VanSlambrook
