Month of Magis Donor Story – The Detherage Family

Andy and Julie Detherage officially joined the Brebeuf Jesuit community in the fall of 2009, when their daughter, Ashley, began her freshman year. Since that time, all three of their daughters have graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit – Ashley ’13 (Vanderbilt), Izzy ’16 (Yale), and Ellie ’18 (Indiana University). Over the last ten years, they have been engaged and dedicated parents, actively involved in the life and activities of the school; served on various committees, including our Board of Trustees; opened their home for events; and graciously shared their gifts to support our Brebeuf community.

Together, they are Magis Society members and have established an endowed scholarship named in memory of Julie’s brother and mother.  They have spearheaded capital campaigns, providing both generosity and leadership during our Leading the Way capital campaign.  Last year, Julie became a new member of the Brebeuf Jesuit Board of Trustees and continues to serve as a member of the Advancement Committee.

Their support and involvement did not end with the graduation of their youngest daughter in 2018. Andy and Julie shared that their continued support of Brebeuf is due in large part to the foundation created and impact made on their children.

“Brebeuf challenged our daughters’ beliefs in ways that helped each of them to best identify, understand and solidify their own values which ultimately empowered them to believe in greater opportunities for themselves.”

We are grateful to Andy and Julie for continuing to make a difference at Brebeuf.  Their support is critical as they continue to provide for future generations of Braves.  Making a leadership gift at the Magis Society level is important to them and ensures that Brebeuf will be provided with the necessary resources to serve students to the highest degree possible.
