Month of Magis Donor Story – The Marchesani Family

Marlene and Bob Marchesani have four Brebeuf Jesuit alumni in their family – Allison ’08, Andrew ’12, Matthew ’18 and son-in-law Jeff Ackerman ’08. Marlene is an optometrist with her practice on the Eastside of Indianapolis and Bob is a Lilly retiree who is now working as board member and strategic consultant in the pharma and biotech industry, as well as serving in adjunct faculty and mentor roles at Butler’s Lacy School of Business.  Bob also serves on the Brebeuf Jesuit Advancement Committee and has been actively involved in Dad’s Club and other leadership initiatives at Brebeuf.  Over the last 16 years, the Marchesani family has been dedicated to supporting The Brebeuf Fund, ensuring the traditions, values, and infrastructure of Brebeuf continue to thrive.

“As alumni parents, it has been incredible seeing our children grow up to be adults who have a passion for excellence, learning, social justice and faith.  We have always been impressed by Brebeuf Jesuit’s unwavering focus on living those Jesuit values.

Our children all attended St. Richard’s Episcopal School from kindergarten through grade 8 and we found Brebeuf Jesuit to be the best match for our children following that experience.  Both schools emphasize rigorous academics, faith and values-based education and a true dedication to ensuring diversity in their student populations in the broadest sense of the word.

What inspires us to give is seeing the impact and influence of “cura personalis,” education of the whole person.  We believe every academically qualified student should have the opportunity to attend Brebeuf Jesuit and we know that is not possible without the financial support of alumni, current and former parents, and friends of the school.

We truly believe in the mission of the school and the need for Brebeuf graduates to bring Jesuit values into the world regardless of the path they follow in life.  Since we believe that education is the single greatest way to enhance the opportunity for all people to achieve economic independence and self-reliance, it is vital to be a society that philanthropically invests in offering greater access to the best learning environments, like Brebeuf Jesuit.”
