“Brebeuf Jesuit is much more than a high school; it truly is a community for the students and their families.
It is much more than academics. Yes, the rigorous academic classwork, college preparedness, low staff / student ratio are a few reasons why it is an ideal choice, but Brebeuf Jesuit is so much more. Characteristics of a Jesuit education are “to care for the individual person, to develop the whole person, integrating every aspect of our lives “For the Greater Glory of God,” and they are put into practice throughout Brebeuf Jesuit. Olivia has shared that she has felt welcomed and cared for every day, regardless if she is in a classroom, on a break or eating lunch. Her teachers recognize and encourage her to build upon her strengths and take time to cultivate topics that may be challenging.
A few days before Olivia’s first day of her Freshman year, she and some of her classmates spent the afternoon at Gleaners Food Bank getting to know each other while at the same working to make a positive impact on their local community. Community service has a place at Brebeuf. It is an essential part of preparing students to take responsibility as open-minded citizens in a global community, and see first-hand just how much their work can have an impact on the world. They get to interact with people who have vastly different backgrounds, and learn patience and empathy as they develop a global perspective.
Brebeuf Jesuit creates a diverse community in which all students, staff, and faculty are men and women for others. We are a practicing Catholic family and Brebeuf is approximately 50% Catholic. We are thankful for the mature, intelligent conversations and teaching that take place in the religion classes. The students have dialog to support their specific beliefs and learn about each other, all faiths coming together for the Greater Glory of God.
All of this is why we give to Brebeuf. The faculty and staff excel, providing all the Brebeuf students an amazing high school experience and incredible opportunities; and when we see we have a gift of time, talent or treasure to help them be successful, we will do just that! Magis Society is essential to Brebeuf Jesuit because one person can’t do it all. We are a community helping each other. We are all men and women for others.”
