National Honor Society Applications
Students aren’t selected for National Honor Society until the beginning of Junior year, but it is never too late to start thinking about what makes a good application. Making good grades isn’t enough. Please see the four pillars below that are evaluated when selecting members:
Scholarship
Must take rigorous and academically challenging courses and have a GPA of a 3.75 or higher.
Service
This involves voluntary contributions to the school or community, done without compensation.
Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experience can be drawn from school or community while working with or for others.
Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and maintains a clean disciplinary record. The Dean’s Office signs off on all NHS applications.
Students meeting the 3.75 GPA requirement will receive an invitation to apply in the mail in June. Please note that students who receive applications are not guaranteed admission. Admission will be based on a holistic review of students’ applications.
