Sai Chalasani ’19 Earns Gold Congressional Award Medal
The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. Young people can register when they turn 13 ½ years old and they can earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.
Sai Chalasani earned the highest level, the Gold Congressional Award Medal, in October 2018 by logging 450 hours of volunteer work, 219 hours of personal development, 251 hours of physical fitness, and 7 days of exploration to Beijing and Xi’an over 24 months. He will receive his award at the annual Gold Medal Ceremony in Washington, D.C. during the summer of 2019.
