Student Spotlight – Richie Bennett ’18
Loves About Brebeuf
I love how kind everyone is at Brebeuf. I know it is very stereotypical to say that, but coming from a public middle school I noticed a major difference in how people treated each other. This is also evident in relationships with teachers – I am good friends with several teachers at Brebeuf!
Class You Are Most Looking Forward to This Year
The class that I am most looking forward to this year is life skills with Mrs. Watko. In the past few years, I have focused on being book smart so I am excited to learn more practical skills that can be useful in real-life situations. Other than that, I am very excited for AP Biology and Honors Anatomy and Physiology.
I am planning on attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois next year and will be playing soccer. I want to be a surgeon, so I am planning on majoring in some form of science (probably biology) in college.

I have two sisters – both of whom attend the University of Colorado Boulder
Six or seven years ago, I saw the Dalai Lama when I was in Toronto for a vacation. He was staying at our hotel and shook hands, including my sisters.
What are you most looking forward to during this school year?
I am hoping to lead a retreat this year. Senior privileges are also very exciting because I love all the options to eat around Brebeuf! I am also really looking forward to taking my classes to prepare me for college.
What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc.?
Believe it or not I actually do not watch Netflix because I don’t have much free time. In the little free time I have I normally choose to spend it with friends. I have tried to start several TV shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones but they just do not interest me. However, if I do have time to watch a tv show I watch The Bachelor with my mom and dad and laugh at all the drama that the contestants make.
What advice would you offer our newest Braves in the Class of 2021?
I would suggest to make the most of your time at Brebeuf and to get to know everyone. Four years goes by so fast, and every year I wish that I had taken the time earlier to get to know one of my current friends.
