Student Spotlight – River Martin ’17
Loves About Brebeuf
I love that Brebeuf offers college counselors who help us with our college applications and the process that goes along with it. I also love that Brebeuf offers class retreats as well as Junior and Senior Kairos so you can really get to know yourself and your peers.
My favorite class is Honors Anatomy and Physiology with Mrs. McCarter. We are able to complete hands-on labs and activities and afterwards, discuss the topic so it really sinks in.
My future plan is to go to medical school and then serve in the U.S. Navy. Plan B is to become a photographer for National Geographic since I love to travel.

I attended Culver Academies Summer Schools and Camps over the past six summers where I learned how to sail different classifications of inland sailboats (I highly recommend attending). I have also traveled to Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Germany, and Dubai. I was named after the Shannon River in Ireland.
What has been your favorite Brebeuf experience or most memorable moment so far?
My most memorable experience thus far has been Kairos 95. Kairos 95 allowed me to open up to the people in my grade which helped my transition from Virginia Beach. Another memorable Brebeuf experience is getting Tony Dungy’s autograph when everybody else was too nervous too.
You have traveled to some fascinating places. Where are some places that you would like to visit in the future?
In the future, I would like to visit any Norwegian country. I like to visit countries that are rich in history and countries that have not been visited as much. Countries like Sweden, Greenland, Finland, or Denmark. I do not plan on visiting any countries any time soon because it costs a lot of money and I don’t have enough right now. My next visit will most likely be a study abroad program offered by my University.
