Welcome Patrice Stokes to Brebeuf Jesuit!
Please join us in welcoming Patrice Stokes to Brebeuf Jesuit, where she will serve as an Academic Counselor!
Patrice holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Counseling Education from Indiana University of Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI). She has served in college ministry, working with young adults in the areas of faith, education, and career counseling. She has also worked with youth K-12 as an Academic Counselor in the areas of academic achievement, conflict resolution, social/emotional development, embracing and understanding one’s identity, cultural competency, and mediation in various family dynamics.
Patrice has spoken around the country on topics of advocating for counseling, especially the need to normalize its purpose in communities of color and debunk the stigma of “who needs counseling.” When she speaks, she uses her passion for poetry in the form of spoken word as a healing art form to creatively connect with people, empower minds young and old, and speak on matters of the heart. Patrice has a holistic approach to counseling. She believes healing starts with helping people understand who they are emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally, and culturally by dealing with one question and one issue at a time to find true fulfillment. Patrice is excited to join the Brebeuf team to utilize her skills here and work with faculty, staff, students, and families as an Academic Counselor.
Patrice will begin on September 27, 2021, and her caseload will be Allen Glunt’s former caseload. We feel lucky to have her with us!
